Breaking News! “Weather Hunters,” a new PBS KIDS animated STEM series from Emmy-winning “TODAY” host and beloved weatherman Al Roker, premieres on Arkansas PBS on Monday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 a.m. You can watch it anytime on the PBS KIDS app.

The series is designed for kids aged 5-8 and aims to spark curiosity about weather, climate and Earth science – all through the perfect mix of adventure, comedy and heart.

Meet the Hunter Family

“Weather Hunters” follows the adventures and explorations of weather detective and force of nature Lily Hunter and her family. Lily’s dad, Al, is the fun-loving, beloved host and weathercaster of a long-running TV program. Do, Lily’s multitasking mom, is the producer of the family’s weathercasts, while Corky is an 11-year-old budding documentarian who loves capturing exciting weather events on video. Rounding out the Hunter family is Benny, the 5-year-old brother who is always drawing or painting something he has seen during the family’s weather adventures.

The Hunters' primary goal is to learn as much as possible about weather to benefit the community and the planet by solving weather mysteries, sharing vital information and encouraging stewardship of the environment. They are continuing a great family tradition that started with Al Hunter’s grandfather, Wallace Reed Hunter (voiced by LeVar Burton), one of the original World War II Tuskegee weathermen who went on to become one of the first African American weather broadcasters.

STEM, Storytelling and Stunning Animation

Each episode blends comedy with jaw-dropping natural weather phenomena, giving the series a fresh, vibrant look.

Kids will explore STEM-based themes like:

●    Observing and tracking weather patterns.
●    Investigating how the weather changes across seasons and regions.
●    Understanding the link between weather, humans and the environment.

And, because PBS KIDS is all about extending learning, “Weather Hunters” has digital content for families where kids can learn more about the Hunter family and play games.
