Read to Succeed invites families to free reading events this June

Arkansas PBS events scheduled for Jonesboro, Russellville, Morrilton to feature family story time, free literacy resources

CONWAY, Ark. (Arkansas PBS) — Arkansas PBS will host free Fun Family Reading Events this June as part of Read to Succeed, an initiative to provide literacy resources and encourage family engagement through educational activities.

Events are scheduled for the following cities and dates: 

  • Jonesboro – Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library, 315 West Oak Ave, Tuesday, June 3, at 1 p.m.
  • Russellville – Pope County Library, 116 E 3rd St, Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m.
  • Morrilton – Conway County Library, 101 W Church St, Saturday, June 21, at 1 p.m.
  • Forrest City – Forrest City Public Library, 421 S Washington St, Monday, July 14, at 4:30 p.m.
  • Pine Bluff – Pine Bluff Public Library, 600 S Main St, Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m.
  • Siloam Springs – Siloam Springs Public Library, 205 E Jefferson St, Tuesday, July 29, at 10 a.m.

Each free event is open to the public and will include a meal and story time featuring the book “Potato Pants!”, followed by a discussion and activity.

Families who attend will receive an Arkansas PBS literacy resource bag – including a book, family engagement activities, a journal and a snack bag to take home. Spanish versions of materials will be provided as needed.
