Arkansas PBS is seeking a Multi-Media Journalist/Editor for its Public Affairs department which produces the program “Arkansas Week,” political debates, streams live government meetings and events on the Arkansas Citizens Access Network (AR-CAN) webpage and will be involved in future digital projects.
This position will be responsible for daily research on local and state public affairs and editing “Arkansas Week” within deadlines and standards of quality set by Arkansas PBS.
The ideal candidate will be someone who regularly follows Arkansas news and politics with the ability to research, gather, and pitch news stories to the Director of Public Affairs and Arkansas Week Producer focused on local and state topics in Arkansas. The position is also responsible for scheduling, planning, and recording live stream events for Arkansas PBS’ ARCAN programming.
The person must work collaboratively with team members to meet the needs of the agency and specifically the public affairs department under the direction of the Director of Public Affairs.
Responsibilities include:
- Research, gather and develop program ideas relevant to Arkansas local and statewide topics for Arkansas Week, and edit Arkansas Week and other public affairs content.
- Schedule, plan, and film ARCAN content
- Aid the Producer and Director of Public Affairs in the production of live or taped public affairs programming.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, plus three years of experience in the radio/television industry or a related field.
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience or education in editing utilizing non-linear editing software including Premiere Pro.
