Estate planning is a vital component of financial wellness – the conversations we have with our families and how it provides for our loved ones after we’re gone. To recognize National Estate Planning Awareness Week this month, Arkansas PBS Foundation is offering free planning guides.
Estate planning is one of the most overlooked areas of personal financial wellness. It is estimated that two-thirds of Americans do not have any estate planning documents. In the event of sickness, accident or untimely death, a will or trust can help protect oneself and one’s family. Organizing financial assets and thinking through personal goals can also help avoid unnecessary expense and financial hardship for loved ones.
Additionally, estate planning provides individuals with the opportunity to create a lasting legacy by making charitable bequests to the causes they care about most. This type of gift incurs no costs during a person’s lifetime, yet it remains a powerful tool for reducing taxes and making a lasting impact for generations to come.
Arkansas PBS Foundation will recognize National Estate Planning Awareness Week from Oct. 20 to 26 by providing our audience with free estate planning guides. The booklet enables the user to start organizing their financial assets and thinking through their personal goals.
