Horner Neck Lake is, for the most part, a well-kept secret. So, if y’all promise to keep it hush-hush, I’m sure the locals will appreciate it.

The location of this lake, is in of itself unique—I mean, a national forest in the middle of the Arkansas Delta is something to behold. Then, you add a 40-acre, cypress-filled lake and, now, you really have something to talk about.

So, north of Helena, Arkansas, is this oasis in the Delta: The St. Francis National Forest, along with the hidden gem, Horner Neck Lake — which is a floater’s paradise for experiencing impressive cypress trees and solitude. The day we were there, nobody else was on the lake.

Exploring Arkansas Trails Less Traveled Horner Neck Lake Duo Floating

Horner Neck Lake is a shared management endeavor between St. Francis National Forest and Mississippi River State Park. The park manages the recreation on the lake so, if you want to set up a kayak tour, just contact the park.

There are plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities on Horner Neck Lake and plenty of great fishing: largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, sunfish and catfish.
