Sometimes, you can find astounding attractions off the beaten path that are just a short hop and a skip away. Take this week’s “Trails Less Traveled” feature, Highway 123 Falls, for example.
This rather impressive waterfall is only about 100 yards from the highway! In fact, when the leaves are off the trees, you can actually see it from the road.
Highway 123 Falls is located in the Ozark National Forest northeast of Clarksville in Johnson County, between Hagarville and Haw Creek Falls Campground. Nine miles north of Hagarville along Highway 123, look for a gravel pull-off on the left where you can park. Across the highway, you’ll spot a concrete culvert with a small rectangular yellow marker. You’ll see where the trail begins past that culvert. Just trek on up about 100 yards to the waterfall. Easy breezy, 1-2-3!
