Take the old poodle skirt out of mothballs, get out the butch wax for that flat top haircut and shine up the chrome on the ‘57 Chevy, ‘cause we’re taking you to back to the drive-in during a brand new episode of “Exploring Arkansas,” Monday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m.

This ain’t no hand jive folks – we’re talking about a real McCoy drive-in! The Kenda Drive-In in Marshall has been in business since the 60s and still uses the same outdoor car speakers!  It was THE way to watch a movie back during those “happy days” and still is in this north Arkansas town.

And that’s just the start of it – in order to REALLY experience a movie at a drive-in, you have to drive in, in a classic car … but not just one! How about more than 200 classic cars?! That’s how many showed up when word got out that “Exploring Arkansas” was going to the drive-in to re-create a scene from the 50s and 60s.

So grab the leather jacket and white t-shirt, hop in the hot rod, and let’s peel out back to those days when America was rockin’ and rollin’, beboppin’ and do-woppin’ – and everything was cool and sane.

From the hot rod, we’ll go back into our exploring kayak and paddle through the wilds of forgotten and tucked away Horner's Neck Lake, deep in the St. Francis National Forest – a unique oasis in of itself, along the Mississippi River Delta.

After working up an appetite during the last two segments, we’ll close it out by taking you all out to dinner – to Rolando’s Restaurante in Hot Springs for some Latin American cuisine in your choice of three distinct dining settings.

May I recommend the El Plato Cubano out on the back patio? Locating a fine Cuban cigar afterwards is up to you!
