Hiking through the breathtaking Marinoni Scenic Area, hanging out with the precision riding team known as the “Old Fort Days Dandies,” fiddling around at the Arkansas Fiddlers Convention and visiting the Birdhouse Capital of America – it’s all coming up during a brand new episode of “Exploring Arkansas” on Wednesday, Aug. 2.

Marinoni Scenic Area Ozark National Forest Arkansas

The Marinoni Scenic Area in the Ozark National Forest north of the Mulberry River is just that: very scenic and definitely one of the most beautiful places in Arkansas. It’s a special, enchanting area with towering bluffs, lush giant ferns and waterfalls.

Old Fort Days Dandies

The Old Fort Days Dandies are a special, talented group of young cowgirls who demonstrate their precision riding skills during the Old Fort Days Rodeo in Fort Smith and in rodeo arenas all over the country. You could say that they are Arkansas’s answer to the Dixie Stampede in Branson, Missouri.

Arkansas Fiddlers Convention

The Arkansas Fiddlers Convention is held every May in the south campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison. Hundreds of fiddlers and other musicians from a five-state area gather in workshops and jam sessions for a weekend of traditional folk music. Performances are also held in the college auditorium.

Elaine Birdhouse Capital of America

The small, Arkansas Delta town of Elaine happens to be the Birdhouse Capital of America! More than 800 birdhouses (and counting) are scattered all over town. It all began as a project to provide constructive work for the town’s youth.
