Arkansas PBS > Engage > Pressroom > Tommy Emmanuel specials "Center Stage," "Music Gone Public" to air on AETN
Posted 17 Nov 2017
The Arkansas Educational Television Network will air two specials featuring acclaimed guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, "Center Stage" and "Music Gone Public," as part of special November programming.
Airing Thursday, Nov. 23, at 1:30 p.m., "Tommy Emmanuel - Center Stage" was captured live from The Big Room at the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Chico, California. The one-hour special features fan-favorites such as "Nine Pound Hammer" and Emmanuel’s "Beatles Medley."
"Music Gone Public: Tommy Emmanuel" will air Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m., and showcases full performances from Emmanuel and highlights of the best footage from his previous PBS specials, including "Center Stage," "Live From the Balboa Theatre" and "Live & Solo in Pensacola." Also featured are never-before-seen performances, collaborations, and interviews with Emmanuel and others.
"Tommy Emmanuel - Center Stage" will repeat Saturday, Dec. 2, at 10:30 a.m. "Music Gone Public: Tommy Emmanuel" will repeat Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 10 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 4, at 9 p.m.
Considered one of the finest acoustic guitar players in the world, Australia native Emmanuel is a two-time Grammy Award nominee, has earned four Platinum and Gold albums, and was named CMA Global Country Artist of the Year in 2011. The legendary guitarist has a professional career that spans five decades and continues to intersect with many of the finest musicians throughout the world.
Emmanuel's unique style, dubbed simply "finger style," is akin to playing guitar in a manner similar to how a pianist plays piano, using all 10 fingers. Rather than using a full band for melody, rhythm, bass and drum pieces, Emmanuel plays every part on one guitar.
