‘The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas’ to air Nov. 21 as part of AETN kids’ lineup

Posted 20 Nov 2012

CONWAY, Ark. (AETN) — The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) will air a special block of holiday programming Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. featuring the all new “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas,” as well as “Arthur’s Perfect Christmas” and “Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas.” These special programs will also air throughout Thanksgiving weekend and in December.

The special, one-hour “Cat in the Hat” holiday celebration follows the Cat, Nick and Sally on a trip around the world to help a lost reindeer find his way home in time for Christmas. On their adventure to Freezeyourknees Snowland, the Cat in the Hat and friends depend on a variety of animals – from African bush elephants to bottlenose dolphins and red crabs – and their remarkable abilities to help navigate an amazing journey home. “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas” airs Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
In coordination with the special episode launch, PBS KIDS also features special new Cat in the Hat content online at PBSKIDS.org/catinthehat, inviting kids and parents to explore natural science through interactive games. “Freezeyourknees, Follow Me, Please!” allows players to help the Cat in the Hat and friends make it home for Christmas – with the assistance from extraordinary animal friends.

“Arthur’s Perfect Christmas,” airing at 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, is an hour-long special that follows Arthur, D.W. and their friends and family as they make preparations for the best holidays ever in Elwood City. The group frantically prepares perfect gifts, perfect parties, and perfect family traditions for Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. But, just as in real life, perfection cannot last, and things begin to fall apart. Arthur learns that the joy of Christmas isn't found in an artificial vision of the perfect holiday season, but in the wonderfully messy, imperfect world he lives in.

“Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas” will air at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21. George and The Man with The Yellow Hat are having a very merry time counting down the days until Christmas. There’s only one puzzle: neither of them can figure out what to give the other for a present. The Man is having trouble reading George’s wish list, and George doesn’t have a clue about what to get for The Man who has everything. Will they be able to find the answers before Christmas morning?
