Feb. 18 segment visits Osage Creek Farms in Northwest Arkansas
CONWAY, Ark. (Arkansas PBS) — Over the past year the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted life and business for so many, including Northwest Arkansas’s fourth-generation Osage Creek Farms. This month’s “Good Roots” explores how the farm is recovering in a new segment Friday, Feb. 18, during “Arkansas Week” at 7:30 p.m. on Arkansas PBS and livestreaming at myarpbs.org/watchlive.
In spite of losing a major contract with Butterball, Osage Creek Farms’ rapid rotation grass feeding model helped insulate them from inflating costs and a consumer-direct business model helped offset declining prices from meat processors. But, is it all enough to ford through the current economic uncertainty?
“Good Roots,” produced in partnership with Arkansas Farm Bureau, seeks to shine a light on Arkansas’s rich rural culture and communities. Segments focus on the real stories of rural life, while addressing relevant topics like agriculture, health care, the economy, technology, policy and more. The segment airs the second Friday of each month during “Arkansas Week.” Additional information is available at myarpbs.org/GoodRoots.
