Posted 23 Sep 2014
"Agri Arkansas," a monthly series produced by the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN), will examine state agricultural economics, the Cummins prison farm operations in South Arkansas, and Clarksville peach orchards, Sunday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m.
"This show is for everyone who is curious and appreciates beauty," AETN Executive Producer Carole Adornetto said. "Not only does it showcase an Arkansas industry that is complex and ubiquitous, but it also reveals through its stunning cinematography some of our state's most exquisite farmland."
Highlighting the broad, varied impact of the agricultural industry on Arkansas's economy, the September episode explores the state's vast agricultural sales; how the Arkansas Department of Corrections Cummins penitentiary unit in South Arkansas operates to reduce costs and help improve inmate morale; and delicious peach picking opportunities available in Clarksville.
The episode will also feature a panel discussion with guests Rich Hillman of Farm Bureau and Shea Wilson of the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Former news anchor and veteran reporter Tony Brooks hosts.
"Agri Arkansas" is a celebration of agriculture in Arkansas, featuring experts, innovators and challenges all present in the state's largest industry. This monthly series dedicated to Arkansas's agricultural heritage airs on the last Sunday of each month at 1 p.m. Additional information is available at aetn.org/agriarkansas.
