Posted 20 Oct 2015
'Agri Arkansas,' a monthly series produced by the Arkansas PBS (AETN), will explore the role the West Gulf Coastal Plain plays in the state's agriculture Sunday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m.
Continuing this season's examination of the state's six distinct physiographic regions – the Ozark Plateaus, the Arkansas River Valley, the Ouachita Mountains, West Gulf Coastal Plain and the Mississippi River Alluvial Plain, commonly known as the Delta – the October episode of 'Agri Arkansas' focuses on the important role agriculture plays in the West Gulf Coastal Plain. The West Gulf Coastal Plain, which encompasses much of southern Arkansas, is bordered on the north by the Ouachita Mountains and by the Mississippi River Alluvial Plain on the east. The episode will also examine best practices for managing timberland.
A panel discussion with Dr. Victor Ford, director of the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Southwest Research and Extension Center, and Bruce Jackson, Sevier County rancher and farmer, will close the episode. Former news anchor and veteran reporter Tony Brooks hosts.
'Agri Arkansas' is a celebration of agriculture in Arkansas, featuring experts, innovators and challenges all present in the state's largest industry. This monthly series dedicated to Arkansas's agricultural heritage airs on the last Sunday of each month at 1 p.m. Additional information is available at aetn.org/agriarkansas.
