"Agri Arkansas," a monthly series produced by the Arkansas Educational Television Network, will take a closer look at the Arkansas Forestry Commission, visit Green Bay Packaging Pinecrest Lumber Division and learn the secret to producing great figs with Little Rock Urban Farming in a new episode Thursday, Nov. 23, at 6:30 p.m.
The November episode of "Agri Arkansas" begins by examining the work of the Arkansas Forestry Commission. Created to protect Arkansas's forests from wild land fire and natural hazards, the Arkansas State Plant Board is charged with promoting rural and urban forest health, stewardship, development and conservation for all generations of Arkansans.
The program will also feature a Plummerville lumber mill, Green Bay Packaging Pinecrest Lumber Division, and tips for improved fig production with Chris Hiryak of Little Rock Urban Farming.
Chandler Barton, Arkansas Forestry Commission forest health specialist; Don McBride, Arkansas Forestry Commission assistant state forester; and David Cawein of Green Bay Packaging will appear during the program.
Joe Fox, Arkansas state forester, and Johnny Garrett of Green Bay Packaging Pinecrest Lumber Division will join a panel discussion led by host Tony Brooks, former news anchor and veteran reporter, to close the episode.
"Agri Arkansas" is a celebration of agriculture in Arkansas, featuring experts, innovators and challenges all present in the state's largest industry. This monthly series dedicated to Arkansas's agricultural heritage airs on the last Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Additional information is available at aetn.org/agriarkansas.
