Acclaimed acoustic guitarist Tommy Emmanuel brings together never-before-seen performances and highlights from public television specials special curated concert, 'Music Gone Public: Tommy Emmanuel,' on the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) Monday, Nov. 30, at 8:30 p.m.
The hour-long special features full performances from Emmanuel and highlights of the best footage of the two-time Grammy Award winner from previous PBS specials, including 'Centerstage,' 'Live From the Balboa Theatre' and 'Live & Solo in Pensacola.' Also showcased are never-before-seen performances, collaborations, and interviews with Emmanuel and others.
Considered one of the finest acoustic guitar players in the world, Australia native Emmanuel is a two-time Grammy Award nominee, has earned four Platinum and Gold albums, and was named 'CMA Global Country Artist of the Year' in 2011. The legendary guitarist has a professional career that spans five decades and continues to intersect with many of the finest musicians throughout the world.
Emmanuel's unique style, dubbed simply 'finger style,' is akin to playing guitar in a manner similar to how a pianist plays piano, using all 10 fingers. Rather than using a full band for melody, rhythm, bass and drum pieces, Emmanuel plays every part on one guitar.
The Arkansas PBS Foundaion is the only ticket outlet for 'Tommy Emmanuel: It's Never Too Late' at the Reynolds Performance Hall in Conway Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. Donate $50 and receive one floor ticket to the performance or $30 and receive one balcony ticket. This concert is a fundraiser for the Arkansas PBS Foundaion, and all proceeds will support programming on AETN, Arkansas's PBS affiliate and only statewide public service media network.
'Music Gone Public: Tommy Emmanuel' will repeat Saturday, Dec. 5, at 11:30 a.m.; Sunday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m.; Saturday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 13, at 9:30 p.m.
