The Arkansas Educational Television Network's (AETN) premiere Spanish language program, "El Latino," will feature La Catrina Quartet in a new episode airing Thursday, Oct. 31, at 10:30 p.m.
The discussion with the string quartet, which includes violinist Daniel Vega-Albela, violinist Roberta Arruda, violist Jorge Martínez Rios, and cellist Javier Arias, will focus largely on the band's style of music and the importance of music programs in schools. La Catrina Quartet was awarded the Latin Grammy Award for Best Classical Recording in 2012 for their work on the album "Brasileiro, Works of Mignone," by Cuarto Latinoamericano. Michel Liedermann hosts.
AETN produces "El Latino" in cooperation with the weekly newspaper of the same name, and the newspaper's editor, Michel Leidermann, moderates the program. The program was created to meet the needs of the growing Hispanic community across Arkansas and the U.S. Each month, Leidermann discusses issues pertinent to this growing population with a panel of engaged community members. "El Latino" is broadcast in Spanish.
