“Inside Foyle’s War” will air on the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) Sunday, Aug. 4, at 9 p.m.
“Inside Foyle’s War” is a behind-the-scenes special about the award-winning series that has captured loyal fans for more than 10 years. The special features a recap and favorite moments of the first six seasons, the creation of the series, the decision to set it during World War II, the extensive research that goes into each episode, the casting of Michael Kitchen as DCS Christopher Foyle, the casting and progression of Sam Stewart played by Honeysuckle Weeks, as well as exciting secrets from Foyle’s natural transition to the Cold War and intelligence gathering in the new episodes.
Hosted by Len Cariou, the special offers favorite moments from the previous six seasons and a sneak peek at the new season on “Masterpiece Mystery!” Combining uncompromising historical accuracy with compelling, character-driven murder mysteries, this award-winning British series has won worldwide critical acclaim and undying viewer loyalty since its premiere on ITV in 2002 and PBS in 2003. Featured interviews include creator and writer Anthony Horowitz, executive producer Jill Green, director Stuart Orm, historians, and co-stars Weeks, Anthony Howell and Daniel Weyman.
Offering a unique glimpse into a significant time and place, “Foyle’s War” stars Kitchen as DCS Christopher Foyle, a laconic World War I veteran who serves as detective chief superintendent in the English town of Hastings. As World War II rages, Foyle investigates crimes on the home front, exposing the ravages of war on his once quiet coastal community. After the war, Foyle joins the intelligence community as the Cold War begins.
