The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) will present its annual program "HIV/AIDS in Arkansas: An Update" Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m. AETN has been covering this subject for Arkansans each year since 1989.
Panelists will discuss HIV/AIDS and its current impact, in addition to reviewing how the virus is contracted and its signs and symptoms. The panel will also talk about how people can maintain a quality life while living with HIV. Other topics included are stigma, getting tested, the importance of receiving treatment, health care options and prevention. Expert panel members include: Portia Knowlton, executive director, Arkansas AIDS Foundation; Cornelius Mabin, chief operating officer, The Living Affected Corporation; and Dr. Naveen Patil, medical director, HIV/STD & Hepatitis Programs, Arkansas Department of Health.
