Arkansas PBS > Engage > Pressroom > 'Emmylou Harris – At The Ryman' to premiere Aug. 5 on AETN
Posted 26 Jul 2017
'Emmylou Harris – At The Ryman' will air on the Arkansas Educational Television Network Saturday, Aug. 5, at 11:30 p.m.
Twenty-six years ago Emmylou Harris and her acoustic band the Nash Ramblers performed a three-night stint at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium. Those performances, which were live recording sessions for their Grammy Award-winning album 'At the Ryman,' helped spearhead efforts to refurbish the century-old former home of the Grand Ole Opry. On May 2, 2017, Harris and the Nash Ramblers returned to the venue for a sold-out show, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Ryman.
In this new concert, Harris and the Nash Ramblers perform many of the songs that appeared on 'At the Ryman,' released in January 1992, just nine days before Harris became an official member of the Opry, including 'Guitar Town,' 'Half as Much,' 'Mansion on the Hill,' 'Hard Times,' 'Lodi' and more. The Nash Ramblers – mandolin and fiddle player Sam Bush, Jon Randall on guitar, Al Perkins on Dobro and Larry Atamanuik on drums – were missing one original member, bassist Roy Huskey, Jr., who died in 1997. With Huskey's photo onstage as a tribute, Byron House performed in his place.
'Emmylou Harris – At The Ryman' will repeat Friday, Aug. 11, at 8 p.m.
