Posted 29 Feb 2016
Physician, health advocate and author Mark Hyman will visit the Arkansas Educational Television Network studios Thursday, March 10, at 7 p.m. to discuss his new program 'Eat Fat, Get Thin.'
Over the last 50 years, Americans have become fatter and sicker than ever and have avoided eating fat because of weight gain and heart disease. Now, a growing body of research is debunking fat-phobia, revealing the health and weight loss benefits of a higher fat diet rich in eggs, nuts, healthy oils, avocados and other super foods. Hyman's new book 'Eat Fat, Get Thin: Why the Fat We Eat Is the Key to Sustained Weight Loss and Vibrant Health' is a guide to understanding and putting into practice the latest science on fat.
'Eat Fat, Get Thin' debunks the conventional wisdom about fat – both body fat and dietary fat – explaining how dietary fat came to be wrongly accused and how and why its consumption is finally being justified. The book also details a 21-day Eat Fat, Get Thin Plan to achieve a total body reboot for the whole system to get on track for lifelong health and weight control. Offering practical tools, meal plans, recipes and shopping lists, as well as step-by-step, easy-to-follow advice, 'Eat Fat, Get Thin' is designed to help viewers lose weight, prevent disease and feel better.
Divided into four parts, 'Eat Fat, Get Thin' explains: how Americans got in the fat mess in the first place and why it's taken this long to unpack the fat myth; what the 2015 U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee says about total dietary fat, how the science works and why it's crucial to heed its recommendations; and a guide to understanding fats and the surprising truth about fat and heart disease. The Eat Fat, Get Thin Plan details what foods to eat and how to find the right long-term diet, as well as a user-friendly section on cooking.
