The Arkansas Educational Television Network will address chronic wasting disease in a new 'Arkansans Ask' airing Monday, May 23, at 8 p.m.
Tony Brooks, veteran reporter and host of AETN's 'Agri Arkansas,' leads this discussion about CWD, its presence in Arkansas and plans for moving forward. Panelists include experts from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the Arkansas Department of Health and the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Chronic wasting disease is a neurological disease found in deer, elk, moose and other related animals that is most commonly transmitted through their body secretions. It is comparable to mad cow disease in cattle and scrapie found in sheep.
CWD was first confirmed to have been detected in Arkansas in February. The AGFC has completed its first phase of CWD monitoring and has confirmed that the disease was found in Newton and Boone counties. Hunters are advised to take precautions while handling deer, elk and related animals. More information on CWD can be found at agfc.com.
