"Barnes and … A Conversation With Anne Farris Rosen" will air on the Arkansas PBS Monday, Sept. 3, at 6:30 p.m.
In this episode, host Steve Barnes speaks with Anne Farris Rosen, daughter of John N. Herbers, an award-winning journalist who covered the civil rights movement of the South. They will discuss Herbers' memoir, "Deep South Dispatch: Memoir of a Civil Rights Journalist," which Rosen spent a decade revising with her father, completing it before his death in March 2017.
Herbers covered landmark events such as the 1955 trial of Emmett Till and the Alabama Church bombings of four black girls. His career spanned 38 years working for the United Press International and the New York Times specializing in civil rights, national politics, the White House and Congress.
Rosen, an award-winning journalist in her own right, resides in Washington, D.C., and covers national and international politics, government, legal affairs and social issues. Earlier in her career she worked for the Arkansas Gazette as a general assignment reporter.
This episode was taped at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock.
