Internationally acclaimed tenor Andrea Bocelli lends his unique voice to a lush, symphonic salute to the silver screen in the premiere of 'Andrea Bocelli: Cinema' Friday, Nov. 27, at 8 p.m. on the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN).
Celebrating some of the greatest celluloid songs and scores of all time, the concert highlights works from a varied range of Italian and Hollywood composers. The cinematic songs featured in the special and on Bocelli's latest album 'Cinema' include themes from films such as 'Doctor Zhivago,' 'Love Story,' 'The Godfather,' 'Life Is Beautiful,' 'Il Postino' and 'Breakfast at Tiffany's,' as well as popular songs from stage musicals immortalized in film, such as 'West Side Story' and 'Evita.'
Bocelli sings in five different languages – Italian, French, Spanish, English and Sicilian – and his legendary voice, backed by fresh arrangements, brings new life to some of film's greatest musical masterpieces created by famed composers ranging from Leonard Bernstein to Ennio Corricone.
Through the magic of digital wizardry, Bocelli is joined by Ariana Grande for the heart wrenching duet 'E più ti penso' from 'Once Upon A Time in America'/'Malena,' and Nicole Scherzinger joins Bocelli onstage for the musical anthem 'Don't Cry for Me, Argentina,' from 'Evita.' Hollywood luminaries John Travolta, Ryan O'Neal, Ali MacGraw and Andy Garcia also join Bocelli throughout the concert to speak about the films from which the songs are derived.
