AETN's 'Ghosts, Blood and Zombies' to premier Oct. 31

Arkansas's young filmmakers show off their spooky sides in "Ghosts, Blood and Zombies: A Student Selects Halloween Special" airing in two parts Friday, Oct. 31. A milder, half-hour selection of student films will air at 6:30 p.m., followed by an hour-long segment of more terror-inducing submissions at 10 p.m.

"Just in time for Halloween, these creepy-scary stories will absolutely make you shriek," AETN Director of Production Carole Adornetto said. "Clever ideas, skilled editing, cinematic videography and spot-on casting are the ingredients of this murky brew that will keep you on the edge of your seat!"

The segment at 6:30 p.m. will include:

• "The Ghost of Raider Gym" by Nettleton Television, Nettleton High School, Jonesboro.
• "iZombie," directed by Jordan Hunt of Siloam Springs High School.

The segment at 10 p.m. will include:

• "The Ghost Cheerleader" by Nettleton Television.
• "Drain," directed by Robert Crisp and written by Jaxon Duron of Har-Ber High School, Springdale.
• "The Exorcism of Max Lemmons" by Nettleton Television.
• "Escape," directed by Mina Addams and written by Breanna Row of Low Key Arts, Hot Springs.
• "Alma Mater" by Nettleton Television.
• "Me" by Reed C. Carson of Fayetteville High School.

"Student Selects" is an annual event that showcases the works of K-12 students throughout Arkansas. Student filmmakers can submit their films and videos to AETN for possible broadcast and streaming on aetn.org, and graduating seniors may compete for THEA Foundation scholarships in screenwriting, directing, editing and cinematography.

A complete list of film credits and submission guidelines can be found at aetn.org/studentselects. All entries for 2015 must be submitted by March 27 in order to be considered for scholarships.
