AETN to premiere new four-part series of "Barnes and... A Conversation With" Oct. 9

A new series of "Barnes and… A Conversation With" will premiere on the Arkansas PBS (AETN) beginning Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m.

"Barnes and…A Conversation With," AETN’s public affairs series with host Steve Barnes, will address various topics in interviews with luminaries, such as Dr. David Katz, Hoyt Purvis, Gene Foreman and Frank Deford. Topics of discussion include childhood obesity, sports anchoring and journalistic ethics.

Episodes include:

• "Barnes and… A Conversation With Dr. David Katz," airing Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m.; repeats Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. Katz, director of the Prevention Research Center at Yale University, discusses obesity, weight management and healthy eating.
• "Barnes and… A Conversation With Hoyt Purvis," airing Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 6:30 p.m.; repeats Thursday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m. Purvis, professor of journalism at the University of Arkansas, talks about "Voices of the Razorbacks," the book he co-authored.
• "Barnes and… A Conversation With Gene Foreman," airing Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 6:30 p.m.; repeats Thursday, Oct. 31, at 6:30 p.m. Foreman, visiting professor at the University of Arkansas, speaks on journalism ethics.
• "Barnes and… A Conversation With Frank DeFord," airing Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 6:30 p.m.; repeats Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6:30 p.m. Deford, writer and commentator for NPR’s "Morning Edition," talks about how sports has changed and evolved.

"Barnes and ... A Conversation With," in production for more than 20 years, is a cutting-edge current affairs program featuring conversations with a variety of prominent individuals from many interests and backgrounds.
