AETN to launch digital initiative supporting post-9/11 veterans; community event set for Nov. 12

Posted 15 Oct 2018

The Arkansas Educational Television Network will launch "Veterans Coming Home: Finding What Works" – an initiative focusing on successful examples of veterans "finding what works" as they transition to civilian life: advancing their education, furthering their careers and contributing to their communities – Friday, Oct. 26. AETN received a $25,000 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for the digital-first content and engagement project.

Beginning Oct. 26, AETN will share content through Facebook (facebook.com/aetntv) focusing on a specific topic related to veterans each week through Nov. 23. A national website dedicated to veterans' stories of service is available at veteranscominghome.org.

AETN has produced five new digital shorts featuring Arkansas veterans and their connected support organizations that will also premiere each week. These digital short stories will be available as they are shared at aetn.org/veteranscominghome.

The initiative will focus on the following areas:

In addition to the digital campaign, a veterans appreciation event will be held Monday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, 503 E 9th St., Little Rock. The digital shorts produced by AETN for "Veterans Coming Home: Finding What Works" will be screened during the event.

A one-hour special broadcast that includes the locally produced Arkansas veterans' stories will premiere Monday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. on AETN.

"Veterans Coming Home" is an innovative cross-platform public media campaign exploring "what works" for veterans as they return to civilian life – exploring the challenges and sharing the success stories of veterans who are making a difference in the workplace, on campus and in their communities. Additional information, including stories of service, is available at veteranscominghome.org.

"Veterans Coming Home" is a collaborative, multiplatform public media project between Wisconsin Public Television and Kindling Group in partnership with local stations and other national organizations. Veterans Coming Home is made possible with support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
