Arkansas PBS > Engage > Pressroom > AETN seeks stories, photos for Dreamland Ballroom documentary
Posted 20 May 2014
The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) is seeking stories, photos and memorabilia from Little Rock’s historic West Ninth Street and the Dreamland Ballroom, located on the third floor of Taborian Hall, for a film currently in development.
In the early 1900s, Ninth Street was Little Rock’s African-American cultural epicenter. Taborian Hall served as office space for businesses, a USO for soldiers, and housed the Dreamland Ballroom, which played host to some of the greatest performers in Arkansas and American music history. The documentary will highlight the building and ballroom and their significance in the culture of Ninth Street.
Anyone with information about the ballroom or "The Line," as West Ninth Street was called, is encouraged to contact the film’s producer, Tanisha Joe Conway, at 800-662-2386 or dreamlandballroom@aetn.org.
