Hendrix College students can learn more about the arts, culture, history, and natural wonders of Arkansas thanks to a new partnership with the Arkansas PBS (AETN). Beginning in November 2011, students can watch programs produced by AETN during the week in the "technology clusters" located throughout the Student Life and Technology Center. AETN will provide Hendrix with more than 50 free original educational programs.
"AETN has a treasure chest of programs about Arkansas to share programs we want students to see that will help them learn about our state, inspire them to travel and see the sights, and understand the history of this place and its people," AETN Deputy Director Tony Brooks said. "These same programs are available to all colleges and universities who are interested in sharing this content with their students."
Examples of the programs to be shared include: "Silent Storytellers," "Delta Dreams," "City of Visitors," "Arkansas Nature Trilogy," "Arkansas You Run Deep in Me," "Historic Bridges of Arkansas," "Celebrating Arkansas IV," "A Holiday Music Gala," "When Lightning Struck: Saga of an American War Plane" and "AETN Presents: Front Row With Trout Fishing in America and My Best Day, A Family Concert."
"Hendrix is partnering with AETN so that we can offer high quality programming content from public television that can be trusted and is on the level that our students have come to expect to our students in our Student Life and Technology Center," Hendrix College Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer David J. Hinson said.
More than half of the 1,426 students at Hendrix are from out of state, Hinson noted.
"In addition to Arkansas, Hendrix draws top students from across the country and many foreign countries," he said. "This partnership provides those students a great glimpse of the state's heritage and all the wonderful things there are to do in Arkansas."
