Posted 10 Oct 2017
The Arkansas PBS Foundation is joining local community organizations in a public awareness campaign highlighting National Estate Planning Awareness Week, Monday, Oct. 16 through Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017.
Arkansas PBS Foundaion will recognize National Estate Planning Week by providing free estate planning booklets to interested local residents. The booklet will allow the user to start organizing their financial assets and thinking through their personal goals. Any person who would like to receive this free booklet may contact Karen Cooper at 800-662-2386 or legacygifts@aetn.org.
Estate planning is one of the most overlooked areas of personal financial management. It has been estimated that more than 120 million Americans do not have proper estate plans to protect themselves or their families in the event of sickness, accidents or untimely death. This circumstance can cause many families to have unnecessary expenses and financial hardship. Proper planning can help to avoid these unintended consequences.
"For over 50 years, AETN has provided the people of Arkansas with valuable educational programming, services and information," AETN and Arkansas PBS Foundaion Executive Director Courtney Pledger said. "Having 'all your ducks in a row,' as they say, is incredibly important for one's financial health.
"We are excited to be able to offer this estate planning information to our viewers."
In 2008, Congress passed a resolution proclaiming the third week in October as National Estate Planning Awareness Week.
The Foundation provides Arkansans opportunities to connect with the only statewide public media outlet by becoming a financial donor, corporate or foundation partner, volunteer, or by other means of giving. The Arkansas PBS Foundaion builds relationships between AETN, donors and viewers and is committed to being a transparent and accountable steward of private financial support.
