The CSG review, determining the distribution of available funding from CPB to the nations public television stations, is mandated by Congress. Only 12 public television leaders in the nation are recruited to serve on this panel. Weatherly also served on the CSG panel in 2006. The panel hopes to complete work over a six month period beginning mid-October.
It is a distinct honor to serve again on the CSG review, Weatherly said. While it is extremely challenging, it is also in AETNs and state public television networks best interest to be at the table as these crucial decisions are made.
Weatherly currently serves as an elected member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Board of Directors. He recently completed a term as Chairman of the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) and co-chair of the Organization of State Broadcast Executives. He has been with AETN since 1993 and became executive director in 2001.
The Arkansas Educational Television Network (www.aetn.org) provides lifelong learning opportunities, improves and enhances Arkansans lives and celebrates the unique culture of Arkansas through its programming and services. AETNs transmitters and numerous cable system connections give it statewide reach.
