AETN digital subchannels temporarily off air in Northwest Arkansas

Posted 05 Mar 2013

The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) announced today that AETN Create (AETN-2), AETN Plus/World (AETN-3) and the Arkansas Information Reading Service for the Blind (AIRS, AETN-4) audio channel are temporarily unavailable in Northwest Arkansas on the KAFT transmitter.

Weather conditions last week caused AETN to lose the microwave signal to the KAFT transmitter. Until this can be repaired, an alternate program feed that allows only the primary 13.1 channel is being broadcast. As a result, viewers in Northwest Arkansas have been unable to view AETN Create, AETN Plus and AIRS (13.2, 13.3 & 13.4) since Thursday, Feb. 21.

When weather conditions permit rigging crews to safely assess the problem on the tower, engineers will be able to better estimate when broadcasts will resume. However, it is likely that these channels will be unavailable through next week.

Status updates for this project will be posted at aetn.org.
