Posted 18 Mar 2014
The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) has partnered with the Museum of Discovery to bring Sid the Science Kid to the museum for family fun days during spring break March 27-28.
Families are invited to meet and take photos with Sid from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. PBS KIDS programming will be shown throughout the day, along with science-themed educational activities. Visitors are encouraged to dress as their favorite PBS KIDS characters to celebrate spring break.
Additionally, AETN is participating in the "Learn the Address" campaign, encouraging Arkansans to video record themselves reading or reciting the Gettysburg Address to celebrate its 150th anniversary. AETN will be operating a camera for anyone who would like to record their rendition of the Gettysburg Address during the spring break festivities Thursday and Friday. The recordings will be uploaded to aetn.org/learntheaddress. This effort leads up to Ken Burns' PBS documentary "The Address," airing April 15 on AETN.
The Museum of Discovery, 500 President Clinton Avenue, Suite 150, Little Rock, will be open its normal business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meeting Sid will be free to the public; admission will only be charged to visitors going beyond the lobby. General admission is $10 for ages 12 and up, $8 for ages 1 to 11, and free for members and children under 1.
Established in 1927 as the Museum of Natural History and Antiquities, the Museum of Discovery is the oldest museum in Little Rock. The mission of the Museum of Discovery is to ignite a passion for science, technology and math in a dynamic, interactive environment.
