Gather your kindred spirits for a special night of programming! This Thanksgiving promises to be one of the happiest on record with back-to-back broadcasts of “Anne of Green Gables” and “Pollyanna.”

First, savor a new adaptation of “Anne of Green Gables,” based on the first book of the Lucy Maud Montgomery series. Starring 14-year-old Ella Balentine as the auburn-haired heroine Anne Shirley, the film also features Martin Sheen as Matthew Cuthbert and Sara Botsford as Marilla.

The film, which was produced in association with L.M. Montgomery’s granddaughter Kate Macdonald Butler, tells the beloved story of a precocious young orphan placed in the care of the conservative Cuthbert siblings and their adventurous journey of learning and personal engagement. The 90-minute premiere event promises exciting adventures - from bosom friendships to the depths of despair - Thursday, Nov. 24, starting at 7 p.m.

Our Thanksgiving programming also includes a special presentation of the 2005 portrayal of the classic tale of “Pollyanna.” Watch as a young orphan – played by Georgiana Terry – through her effortless charm, helps friends and strangers alike believe that a little positive thinking can make a big difference.

While she quickly wins everyone in the village she comes to call home, her embittered aunt is unmoved. Yet, when tragedy strikes, Pollyanna’s sunny outlook induces her aunt to confront the past and embrace the promise of happiness.
