Tune in Sunday, starting at 7 p.m., with the continuation of "Call the Midwife", Doc Martin with "Aromatherapy" at 8 and "Upstairs Downstairs - Series 2: A Perfect Specimen" at 9. In one of the more dramatic and moving episodes of Midwife, a search and a death bring pain to the young nurses. Doc remains his ornery self and Eaton Place's women stand strong.

I could write for days my opinion of these three programs - especially being blocked together for one long sit of fantastic lovely viewing - really spectacular characters, writing, scenery and whatnot. But I will say that Upstairs took me for a little spin that wasn't expected. And it was amazing. Looking back on the episode, I realize now that it wasn't just the outspoken Aunt's story that gave me tingles, it was watching some of the main women featured in this show (both upstairs and downstairs) stand for something they believe in … quite different than we see during these subservient times. Women have roles to fulfill in this life during this age - and they aren't always accepted when they are brave enough to question those roles. Hee hee. Well done, ladies.
