AETN and ArkansasIDEAS are proud to congratulate Farrah McEntire, of Star City High School, on being named a 2017 PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator!

Farrah McEntire was selected as one of 52 educators from across the country chosen for this honor in recognition for her work as a classroom changemaker. Her bold and fresh perspective on integrating digital media and resources into her classroom as an EAST Initiative facilitator showcased her skillful approach to education. More importantly, it sparks a love of learning in her students!

Ms. McEntire has worked with community partners to encourage her students to take on real world problems, take risks and test their own ideas. Under her leadership, Star City High School EAST Lab students design websites, edit video and audio, use computer animated design software, have mapped bus routes using ArcMap and have used 3D printing software to model solutions.

In her role as a PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator, Farrah McEntire will receive an all-expense-paid trip to San Antonio to represent Arkansas at the 2017 PBS Digital Summit and the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) conference.

Ms. McEntire will also serve as education partner throughout the year and help deepen the connection between the educator community and AETN. PBS Digital Innovators are given special opportunities to participate in free, ongoing professional development; share their ideas on PBS platforms; access to exclusive resources from PBS LearningMedia; receive a free PBS TeacherLine professional development course; and attend special events.

“AETN is proud to recognize Ms. McEntire, who is committed to changing the way students learn through technology and digital media,” AETN Executive Director Courtney Pledger said. “Education is at the heart of AETN’s purpose, and educators like Ms. McEntire truly engage and empower students in their communities.
“She will well represent AETN and the entire state as she continues to enhance her skills with one-of-a-kind resources, tools and trainings from PBS LearningMedia.”

We deeply appreciate Farrah McEntire and the many outstanding educators who teach and inspire Arkansas children in innovative ways every day. The outstanding work, creativity and dedication of educators like Ms. McEntire fulfills a vital role in our state and builds a better future for our students!
