"Clean Lines, Open Spaces: A View of Mid-Century Modern Architecture" an AETN production, received three Emmys this weekend in the 2012 annual awards competition of the Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS)! We're proud to congratulate our fab production team on the wins, particularly AETN Senior Producer Mark Wilcken, Director of Photography Gabe Mayhan, AETN Production Specialist and Jib-crane Operator Jeffery James, and our Director of Production, Carole Ardonetto.

The one-hour documentary - which explores mid-century modern architecture through a regional lens of the American south - won an award for Best Cultural Documentary, and Mark received individual awards for Best Writing and Best Editing.

When we asked Mark "how it felt" after the big wins, he said: "It’s always nice to have your work recognized. I love these old mid-century modern buildings, and I’m glad I had a chance to explain what they are, where they came from and why they are important."

If you caught the film on air or online with AETN - or at this year's Little Rock Film Festival - you probably easily saw Mark's point&hellip and his appreciation for the style. "Clean Lines, Open Spaces" shows us how international influences helped shape architecture in Arkansas after World War II and marked a break with tradition.

More than simply a new style of building, this shift in design serves as a still-present representation of a new way of life that helped define post-war America.

If you haven't seen the film, yet, be sure to watch it on air on AETN-3 PLUS/WORLD on Monday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. or on Saturday, Oct. 13, at noon. You might even find a mid-century modern masterpieces - like the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville's Fine Arts Center, the Tower Building in Little Rock, the Fulbright Library in Fayetteville or the abandoned Hotel Mountainaire of Hot Springs - near you!

And, as always, we'd love to have you tune in online, whenever it fits your schedule! Check out the film, plus behind-the-scences clips, photos, downloadable info for teachers, and much more at

Be sure to watch "Clean Lines, Open Spaces" Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. and Oct. 13 at 12 p.m.
