David Tennant, Endeavour, Poirot and a brand new medical drama? There’s blockbuster after blockbuster lined up for your Sunday night entertainment on AETN! And all of the fun kicks off on June 15 with “The Escape Artist.”
Known and loved as the 10th Doctor (and our former Masterpiece Contemporary host) David Tennant joins the Masterpiece lineup this summer in the gripping legal thriller “The Escape Artist.” This two-part drama follows Tennant as Will Burton, a brilliant defense lawyer with a storybook family … and a potent nickname, “The Escape Artist.” Revered for his ability to spring the obviously guilty, Burton is forced to reconsider his career and life when he receives a trial that changes his world forever. Also not to be missed? Sophie Okonedo ("Hotel Rwanda") takes a stunning turn as Tennant’s prosecuting opponent. Tune in to see the outcome on AETN Sundays, June 15 and 22, at 9 p.m.
Next, add a little mystery to your summer with the return of “Endeavour,” starting at 9 p.m. on June 29. This season, still prior to the signature to the signature red Jag, Constable Endeavour Morse joins us for four all-new mysteries. After last season’s brush with death and an involuntary leave of absence, Endeavour is back, slightly shaken, but with his deductive powers already running in high gear.
After “Endeavour” wraps up its Season 2 run, continue brushing up on your sleuthing skills with the 12th season of “Hercule Poirot.” David Suchet is back in his signature role as your favorite, suave Belgian detective in two new mysteries, “The Big Four” and “Dead Man’s Folly,” based on Agatha Christie’s novels. No matter if he’s on holiday abroad, taking a countryside break or simply going about his business, as always, Poirot exercises his “little grey cells” by helping the police investigate crimes and murders … regardless of whether they ask for his assistance. Grab your bowties and bowlers and get ready to join him Sundays at 9 p.m., July 27 through August 3.
Finally, round out the dog days of summer with a stylish, compelling new medical drama, “Breathless.” Set in London in 1961, the series dives into the life and work of Otto Powell, played by Jack Davenport (Smash, Pirates of the Caribbean), a brilliant surgeon who believes he can make a difference in women’s lives.
