Manifest Destiny

“Manifest Destiny” invites you to look the history of American expansionism and foreign policy through the eyes of respected historians and diplomats, Sunday, August 12, at 1:15 p.m. As you look at the nation’s actions from the Spanish-American War of 1898 to current military actions, this powerful series will inspire you to ask what role the United States should play in the interconnected world of the 21st century.

Journey through history, from President William McKinley and Vice President Theodore Roosevelt’s decision to attempt to free colonial Cuba from Imperial Spain to Afghanistan and Iraq, to determine whether the consequences of our nation’s efforts to “make the world safe for democracy” have been worth the risks as we face compromised objectives and unforeseen consequences. “Manifest Destiny” makes a compelling case in its clear-eyed and probing address of key foreign policy concerns through use of archival footage as well as in-depth, insightful commentary and dramatic stories.
