We have a special gift for our “Downton Abbey” fans this holiday season! Join us for free screenings of the first hour of the epic fifth season and explore the latest saga in the intimately interlaced stories you’ve come to know and love. The deliciously entertaining formula (which has made “Downton Abbey” the highest-rated drama in PBS history) will be coming to Fayetteville and Little Rock this year, and we can’t wait to see you there!
What can you expect in this special preview? We begin in 1924, when the United Kingdom has its first Labor Party prime minister, the radio is the age’s latest miracle and … Downton Abbey’s traditional ways are being besieged on all fronts.
And, of course, we’ll pick up a few of the plot threads still dangling from last season. There’s a wide range of tantalizing options — Lady Mary’s courtship; Lady Edith’s trails as a secret, single mother; Thomas’ plots; Robert’s ongoing struggles with modernity; Tom’s efforts to negotiate two worlds for Sybie; Cousin Rose’s ongoing antics; the Dowager Countess’ continual one-line wonders; and more — and we believe you’ll be pleased with what’s to come!
Northwest Arkansas fans are invited to join us for a screening Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. in the Fayetteville Public Library. This event is sponsored, in part, by Savoy Tea Company and KUAF National Public Radio.
Our other Downton devotees are invited to join us for two additional screenings in Little Rock at the Arkansas Arts Center.
Both events will do more than screen a fabulous hour of television, however! Each event will include receptions, period costumes contests and door prizes, so be sure to put your best ensembles together for an outstanding evening. (Don’t wish to dress for the occasion? While costumes are strongly encouraged - and will be greatly admired - period attire is not required.)
Don’t forget this important note, though - both screening events are free and open to the public, but seating is limited. To ensure your space, RSVP to aetnfoundation.org/boxoffice or call 1-800-662-2386.
