What could make a great summer evening even better? How about a free concert from Amasa Hines? The seven-piece Little Rock band is joining us in AETN studios Thursday, July 17, at 6:30 p.m. to play a free concert.
Named one of the “12 Arkansas Bands You Should Listen to Now” by Paste Magazine and one of the top “10 Southern Bands to Listen to Now” by Southern Living magazine, the longtime Little Rock music scene favorites boast pounding beats from Joshua Spillyards on drums and keyboardist Matt Rice, soaring vocals from Joshua Asante, sultry sax work from Norman Williamson and Stephen Colby and spectacularly understated guitar interplay between Asante and, Judson Spillyards and Ryan Hitt on bass. The group’s sound is as big as their range is wide, and those who join us for the free, mid-week concert can expect tastes of soul, afro-beat, psychedelic, blues, dub and indie rock throughout Amasa Hines’ performance.
But, honestly, our descriptions aren’t going to do these outstanding local musicians justice. Check out just two of the tracks from their recent release “All the World There Is” to get a feel for their incredible talent and sound …
First up is introductory single “Earth and Sky,” which caught Paste Magazine’s eye (or ear, what-have-you):
Then, check out “Coltrane,” one of the most popular tracks from their new album:
Not enough? We’re not surprised! Fortunately, we have an excellent solution - get your fill (or, at least a good dose) of Amasa Hines by joining us in AETN Studios on the 17th. You don’t need tickets, and no RSVP is required - just be sure to show up at 350 South Donaghey Ave. (on the corner of the UCA campus next to Brewer Hegeman and Reynolds) by 6:30 p.m. that night.
