ArkansasIDEAS is partnering with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) to hold “Dyslexia Conference for Arkansas Schools — Literacy for All: Understanding Dyslexia” March 7-8 at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
Designed to bridge the gap in the federal Americans With Disabilities Act funding, this conference will provide dyslexia training and support for rural school districts. In addition to the physical conference held at the Hot Springs Convention Center, many sessions will be streamed live via ArkansasIDEAS.
“Literacy for All: Understanding Dyslexia” will demonstrate strategies for successfully working with students with dyslexia from nationally renowned speakers, as well as Arkansas educators. Confirmed speakers — including Dr. Nikolai Vitti, Dr. Reid Lyon, Dianne Lyon, Dr. Timothy Odegard and Vicki King — will address topics such as dyslexia screening and identification; RTI; using data to guide core instruction; progress monitoring; 504 and SpED; and dyslexia success stories. Panel discussions will also be featured.
Following the sessions, Congressman Bruce Westerman will host a Congressional Dyslexia Forum, which will be open to the public. Conference attendees are encouraged to attend and participate in this important national discussion.
Attendance at the “Dyslexia Conference for Arkansas Schools — Literacy for All: Understanding Dyslexia” is provided by the ADE to Arkansas K-12 public, private and charter school educators free of charge.
