Put two things kids love together in a colorful, educational show and you have hit PBSKids show "Dinosaur Train" by Jim Henson. The show embraces and celebrates the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains while encouraging basic scientific thinking skills as the audience learns about life science, natural history and paleontology. Each of the 40 half-hour episodes features Buddy, an adorable preschool age Tyrannosaurus Rex, and includes two 11-minute animated stories along with brief live action segments hosted by renowned paleontologist Dr. Scott Sampson. Young viewers can join Buddy and his adoptive Pteranodon family on a whimsical voyage through prehistoric jungles, swamps, volcanoes and oceans as they unearth basic concepts in life science, natural history and paleontology. Win a free ride on the historic Arkansas & Missouri Railroad! Thirty lucky Dinosaur Train fans, along with one guardian per child, will get to embark on a three-hour, 70-mile roundtrip train journey hosted by AETN and the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad on Saturday, May 21. The trip will feature Dinosaur Train and dinosaur facts, stories about the railroads history, and Arkansass geology and folklore, all while traveling through the scenic Boston Mountain range of the Ozarks from Van Buren to Winslow and back. The train departs from the Van Buren train depot at 11 a.m. and returns at 2 p.m. A reception will be held at 10 a.m. The train will depart promptly on schedule at 11 a.m. A box lunch will be provided. All winning contestants are responsible for their own transportation to and from Van Buren on the day of the train ride.
Winners will be chosen randomly and notified via email on May 9. Everyone who enters will receive a Dinosaur Train prize pack featuring a journal, free membership in the AETN GO Club, PBS KIDS stickers and Dinosaur Train temporary tattoos.
