East China Normal University art is coming to Arkansas, in a never-seen-before exhibit that will open at AETN's atrium Monday, Nov. 14 in partnership with UCA's Confucius Institute. Not only will visitors be treated to beautiful Chinese art of various mediums, but some of the artists will be in attendance direct from China.
Exhibit visitors will be treated to what most Americans consider traditional Chinese art with lovely orchids and flowers in muted palettes and portraits of shrouded women posing in typical fashion. Other pieces are surprising, modern art almost...bright splattered colors seemingly thrown on a canvas...detailed carved sculptures...soft and peaceful glimpses at children's solemn faces...and separate paintings that come together to form a landscape or flowering masterpiece.
The best part is you can get the first look and meet the artists at a free public reception on Monday, Nov. 14, from 4-6 p.m. at AETN headquarters located at 350 S. Donaghey in Conway. The exhibition will remain on view through Friday, Dec. 30. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
