Upcoming AETN original documentary “Dream Land: Little Rock’s West 9th Street” gives voice to the stories of the individuals and patrons who built the capital city’s historic African-American business district and Taborian Hall, home of the legendary Dreamland Ballroom.

Following the preview screening of the film on Friday, March 31, at 7 p.m., the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center will provide a special opportunity to explore West 9th Street as it exists today and share the histories of the African American businesses and points of interest that once populated the district in a walking tour from Broadway to Izard Streets.

This Walk Down Historic West 9th Street, which is projected to last approximately one hour, will provide an eye-opening experience into the history of an area which once served as a cultural epicenter for Arkansas’s African American population. In addition to the sharp realization of the effects of previous federal programs — such as Urban Renewal, school desegregation, the Housing Act of 1949 and the Eisenhower Interstate Program — on the district, the walking tour will give attendees an understanding of what can be done to help support the future of West 9th Street today.

“Dream Land: Little Rock’s West 9th Street” will premiere on AETN Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. and rebroadcast Monday, April 17, at 9 p.m.
