WHAT WE’RE LEARNING

“Arkansas AMI” PreK-2nd Grade Band

With 2018 Arkansas Teacher of the Year Randi House and Math Games host 2020 Arkansas Teacher of the Year Joel Lookadoo, we’re learning about the life of the fire salamander and how to collect fireflies with “Wild Kratts,”solving the mystery of the cricket’s unique song and discovering how to see our way in the dark with “The Cat in the Hat,” traveling to Mars with “Ready Jet Go,” learning how to turn garbage into something beautiful with “Peg + Cat,” and learning how to use math to plan a top secret birthday party with “Odd Squad.”  We’ll also get to meet Arkansas Department of Education’s Daniel Collier, who is teaching us a thing or two about art, and Susan Jobe, a G.U.I.D.E. for Life Specialist at the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), who is sharing some guiding principles to help us thrive. Plus, be ready to move with our friends at the UAMS STAR Telemedicines program as they teach us a new workout. This week is going to be a blast!

“Arkansas AMI” 3-5th Grade Band

This week, 2017 Arkansas Teacher of the Year Courtney Cochran and Vandy Nash will help us learn about turtle habitats, light pollution, and how to use bicycles to power an ice cream maker with “SciGirls.” We’ll also learn about symmetry and how to round numbers during a visit to an Italian restaurant with “Odd Squad,” along with learning what to do about a pest with “Arthur,” and how to handle numbers less than zero with “Cyberchase.”  Our new friend, Arkansas Department of Education’s Daniel Collier, is teaching us how to create a fun art project. Also, G.U.I.D.E. for Life Specialist at the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education Susan Jobe is showing us a new G.U.I.D.E. for Life Math host, and 2020 Arkansas Teacher of the Year Joel Lookadoo is teaching us new math games!

“Arkansas AMI” 6-8th Grade Band

With 2019 Arkansas Teacher of the Year Stacey McAdoo, we’re exploring some of the most beautiful parks around the county with PBS programming and learning math as we play a new game with 2020 Arkansas Teacher of the Year and Math Games host Joel Lookadoo. Together, we’ll discover new things with a world adventurer as he dives deep into Mexico’s natural beauty and explores flooded caves south of the border with “Expedition - Steve Backshall.” We’ll also look at how the invention of the car has changed our world in countless way with “Breakthrough Ideas That Changed the World.” Our new friend, Arkansas Department of Education’s Daniel Collier, is taking us through an art inspired activity and leading us into one of his very favorite Art Museums right here in Arkansas! G.U.I.D.E. for Life Specialist at the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education Susan Jobe is showing us a new GUIDE for Life. Also, we are learning about the creative ways that students get to “do school” in America while also enjoying some really great music along the way with “Reconnecting Roots.”
