Pay homage to the Memphis soul tradition with a contemporary twist at a special “AETN Presents” taping of The Bo-Keys. Presented as part of the 2015 ACANSA Arts Festival in partnership with Oxford American Magazine at South on Main in Little Rock, The Bo-Keys will perform Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 p.m.
“Soul” is a word with powerful resonance — musically, culturally and spiritually — and no contemporary band embodies its power more than The Bo-Keys. With two critically acclaimed albums and four singles — in addition to international appearances at major festivals and clubs — the Bo-Keys are keeping the spirit of classic Memphis music alive while writing a vital new chapter.
The Bo-Keys features a multi-generational cast of players — including Grammy-nominated producer-bassist Scott Bomar and historic session musicians from Stax and Hi Records studio bands. Don’t miss appearances by co-found Scott Bomar, co-dound and trumpeter Marc Franklin, guitarist Joe Restivo, drummer Howard Grimes, organist Archie “Hubby” Turner, trumpeter Ben Cauley, vocalist Percy Wiggins, and saxophonists Kirk Smothers and Art Edmaiston.
The event is ticketed through either Metrotix.com or the ACANSA Festival Pass. Further individual ticket pricing details and general information can be found through South on Main.
