This AETN Arts Friday, enjoy the best of folk singers with "AETN Presents: On the Front Row With Still on the Hill" at 6:30 p.m. and "Great Performances - Paul Simon's Graceland Journey: Under African Skies" at 9 p.m.
The award-winning Arkansas duo Still on the Hill serenade audiences with their unique "folkgrass" style tonight on "AETN Presents." Band members Kelly Mullhollan and Donna Stjerna compose pieces inspired by their travels celebrating the Ozarks' unsung heroes. With a selection of toe-tapping tracks from their newest CD, "Ozark: A Celebration in Song," in the set, you'll be treated to renditions of fresh, original compositions, as well as new arrangements of traditional favorites.
Later, on "Great Performances," tune in to see one of America's most celebrated folk singers, Paul Simon, as he travels back to South Africa to reunite and perform with several musicians involved in the original production of Simon's "Graceland." Selling 14 million albums and generating three Top 40 singles - in addition to winning Grammys for "Album of the year" and "Song of the Year" - the experiment in cross-cultural collaboration generated an incredible, worldwide impact. Created by acclaimed filmmaker Joe Berlinger, "Paul Simon's Graceland Journey: Under African Skies," follows Simon as he reflects on the landmark events and looks toward the future.
